ScentLedger is committed to accurate price data. When we identify errors in reported prices or methodology, we correct them publicly here.
Chanel No. 5 EDP 100ml median corrected
Correction: The May 2025 median price for Chanel No. 5 EDP 100ml was reported as $95. A data review identified 4 outlier submissions that inflated the median. After applying our standard IQR outlier filter, the corrected median is $82.
Action taken: Price display updated. Outlier submissions flagged and removed from the rolling 90-day window.
Methodology update: minimum submission threshold raised
Correction: Our methodology previously displayed a price range with as few as 3 submissions for rare fragrances. Analysis showed this produced unreliable ranges. We now require a minimum of 5 verified submissions before displaying a price band. Fragrance pages with fewer than 5 submissions now show an “Insufficient data” notice instead of a potentially misleading range.
Action taken: Methodology page updated. ~40 fragrance pages temporarily suppressed until threshold is met.
Data labelling error: flanker vs. original
Correction: Several user submissions for “Sauvage” did not distinguish between Dior Sauvage EDT, EDP, and Parfum concentrations. This caused cross-concentration data blending, understating EDT prices and overstating Parfum prices.
Action taken: Submission form updated with required concentration field. Historical submissions retroactively tagged via community review. Three fragrance data pages rebuilt.
